Basic Education for Adults
Classes held at Polk County Job Center in Balsam Lake: Tuesdays - 1-4:30pm, Wednesdays - 1-4pm, Thursdays - 12:30-3pm. Cost: FREE, please register by calling Polk County Job Center at 485-3115. Instructor: Becky Peterson. Brush up on the basic skills that you need to continue your education or to enter the workforce with confidence: reading, English, grammar, science, social studies, and math. These classes are also for those preparing to earn their GED/HSED and are self-paced with instructor assistance. You can enroll any time.
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)
MOPS is a place that understands moms – their unique needs, challenges, and joys – in this vital season of early mothering! Every mom, who is pregnant or has kids ages ranging from birth to five, is welcomed, accepted and challenged to meet her potential and to recognize her influence, with her family and her world. The St. Croix Falls Farmer's Market is currently looking for vendors for the 2011 season. The market will be held from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturdays, May 1 through Oct. 30 in the new library parking area at 230 Washington Street. For an application, please contact Sloan Stanze at 715-210-8489 or email at stcroixfallsfarmersmarket@yahoo.com They are compiling a list of community events, are looking for a few volunteers and are considering starting a "Friends of the Market" group. Taylors Falls area farmers and producers are especially encouraged to spread the word and participate.
The Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley offers parent education services to any families with children from birth to age six in western Wisconsin’s Pierce, St.Croix, and Polk Counties. Programs include hospital and home visits, screenings, play and learn groups, “Baby and Me” classes, parent education, resource networks, and a teen parent program.
