Instrumental music through the ages has helped human kind express thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and has provided entertainment. Through the medium of instrumental music it is the goal to not create a room full of professional musicians and music teachers, but to develop a classroom of lifetime listeners.
In addition to learning how to listen, through this class students will learn how to be successful, not only in music, but also in life.

Five Goals for the St. Croix Falls High School Music Student
-To become a skillful, acute, life-long listener of music
-To become a kind, caring, positive ensemble member.
-To become a competent user of musical notation.
-To become a sensitive and spirited performer.
-To taste the feeling of being a part of great music.
The Saint Croix Falls Music Department prides itself with providing a comprehensive music education in a small school setting. The ensembles here at St. Croix Falls have performed across the state and nation at various competitions and festivals. Students in St. Croix Falls are exposed to general music, concert choir, chamber singers, concert band, jazz band, marching band, and much more. Students also have the opportunity to participate in WMSA music festivals throughout the year.
High School Music Department to stay green
Last year the high school music department began its effort to reduce the amount of paper it consumes and has moved to a more "green" approach. Students will need to continue to submit their assignments electronically and look for information to be found electronically.
